At Caring Transitions we don't just care about individuals and families, we also care about our community.  We want to share local events held by local organizations of Hampton Roads so as many people as possible can benefit from our community's resources.  This is just one more way we try to be a Total Solution!

8/17-8/20 (Monday-Thursday)  9am - 3pm  World War II Kids Camp "Sicily 1943" (@ The Virginia War Museum, 9285 Warwick Blvd., Newport News)

Boys & girls, ages 8-12, will delve into World War II in a one of a kind experience. Campers will train in squads & learn WWII infantry tactics and play out two battles a day.  In between the battles, campers will receive instruction in uniforms, equipment and history of World War II.  Be advised, this is a physically active camp. The theme of this year’s camp will be the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.  The camp runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day and costs $200.

11/11 (Wednesday)  11am  Annual Veterans Day Ceremony (@ the Victory Arch, 25th Street & West Avenue, downtown Newport News)

Sponsored by American Legion, Braxton-Perkins Post #25. After the ceremony, the public is invited to learn about America’s rich military heritage at the Virginia War Museum.  Visit the museum on Veterans Day and receive $1 off the posted admission prices.

 

December Events:

This annual event features a wreath-laying ceremony at the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association monument on the grounds adjacent to the museum.
